The present writer is a collector of movie posters of some forty years standings. Tastes vary - pre-1970s stone lithographs, Australian, Polish, collage-based, surreal, sci-fi, specific movies (e.g. Metropolis 1927) etc. etc. Another undefinable category is pretty, or beautiful, which is very much a personal view unrelated to any of the previous listed types. Into this category can be placed the posters associated with the Disney 2025 release of a live-action remake of the classic 1937 animated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Titled simple Snow White and starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, prior to its release the movie was surrounded by scandal and negative publicity. When, during 2024, trailers began to appear in theatres and on social media, that largely negative discussion increased. However, when the first posters appeared at the end of that year there was, initially, little if any discussion. That changed somewhat in February 2025, in the lead up to the 21 March release. Setting that aside for the moment, the fact of the beauty of the first poster caught the eye of the writer, initially online, but later in the flesh as the release date got closer.

#1 - Original pre-release poster.

This first poster was a phantasmagorical, colourful digital production, with Zeglar the only human in the picture, surrounded by rendered landscape, buildings, vegetation, animals and text. It very much reflected the feel of the 1937 animated movie. However, the actual trailers did that to a much lesser degree. The public had already been warned about differences between the 1937 and 2025 releases, primarily by both the leads in 2023 interviews. Zegler was especially vocal on those differences, and critical of the original film, which cause a negative reaction online to the many fans of that film. A second poster was released during 2024, featuring Gal Gadot as the evil stepmother.

During February 2025 a new international poster was released which raised controversy as regards an suggestion that Zegler's skin was whitened.

This gave rise to a discussion on the WDWPro YouTube channel on 22 February, bringing in the subject of doctoring posters for the Chinese market, as practiced by Disney.
